0.6 The Skill Tree Update
This update brings with it PotionMeister's missing spice, the Skill Tree.
Skill Tree and XP
Once of the biggest problems in getting into PotionMeister is it's overwhelming variety of different potions and extracts. Starting with this update you will begin with no "known" potions or extracts and you will have to spend xp points to "learn" new potions and extracts from the skill tree. This ensures you won't get lost jumping to overly complicated potions before knowing the basics.
Gaining XP
- Adding an ingredient to a pot or pouch gives you 1 xp.
- Adding a log to the fireplace gives you 1 xp
- Using a potion gives you 5 xp
- Producing an extract gives you the production reward xp specified for the extract.
UX Improvments
Based on your great feedback I've made some improvement to the Potion/Extract/Skill Tree/Etc. panels. In the past you had to first press escape in order to open a panel but now you can simply press the number keys 1,2,3,etc. and each one will respectively open it's associated panel.
Another much missing feature is simple in-game instructions how-to-play. It has been added to the main menu.
The main menu has also been improved a little. The game's title was added to the top of the menu. Since the game's world gen rules a very simple (after we removed hills, mountains, and biomes over a month ago), I removed the "Seed Numer" info in the saved games list in order to further simplify the UI.
Bugfixes
Looks like the previous "Embarrassing Bugfix" brought along with it a bug in the fireplace causing it to produce a greenish fire. While this is cool and might be reintroduced into the game as some crazy fire potion feature but for now we'll return to our normal orange-yellow fire.
